Do you get stressed out as soon as you get up in the morning? Nobody likes to feel this way, but many of us do because we have so much going on in our lives.
If you feel like things are getting too difficult and you have more on your hands than you can really handle, then it may be time for you to introduce some natural stress relief techniques into your daily routine.
There is not necessarily a need to seek treatment or buy expensive products when you can easily improve your own mood by following a few beneficial tips.
1.) Make a To-Do List in Order From Most Important to Least Important
The list of things you need to complete each day seems to continue growing. You spend so much time trying to complete everything that you end up staying up later than you want to.
If you do not want to stay up all night trying to finish everything, you need to create your own to-do list. However, you need to list your tasks in order from most important to least important.
As you start completing the tasks at the beginning of the list, you can start to feel more relaxed because you know you are making progress.
You might not always be able to get to everything on the list, but as long as you carry out completing some of the most important things, you will not have to worry nearly as much.
2.) Start Exercising Before the Start of Your Day or at the End of the Day
You may think of exercise as just another chore for you to complete on your to-do list, but it is more important than you think. Even if you feel like you will never have enough time to exercise during the day, it is something you need to do.
Not only is it good for your own health and weight control, but it is also a fantastic stress reliever.
If you tend to overeat because you are feeling too stressed out, consider exercising instead of grabbing your favorite comfort food. You do not have to spend hours at a local gym.
In fact, you can do just about any kind of exercise you want to do, including going for a nice walk around your neighborhood or dancing around the home for hours. You can even exercise while doing housework, such as sweeping, mopping and wiping down the walls.
3.) Massage Your Body With Relaxing Essential Oils
Those long days of working hard tend to take a toll on your body. If your body is not relaxed, you will continue to feel stressed out.
Before you head to bed for the night, grab a few bottles of essential oils and begin massing them into your skin, paying special attention to the chest, feet and legs.
There are many different essential oils you can use. However, lavender is one of the best ones to start massaging into your skin because of its calming ability. The scent alone will immediately have an effect on you, making you feel much calmer and relaxed than you originally felt before you started the massage.
If you have a loved one at home, consider asking them if they would be willing to rub your back with the essential oil too.
4.) Take a Soothing Warm Bath
There is something soothing and comforting about sitting down in a large bathtub and enjoying the warm water, whether you add a few bubbles or not. Some people like to use bath bombs in their tub of water to add both color to the water and a relaxing fragrance in the air.
If you do not already have bath bombs available, simply place a green teabag into the water with a few drops of essential oil to maximize the comfort and enhance your experience.
Stay in the tub as long as you want to and avoid thinking about those things that make you feel stressed out. Instead, grab a magazine or a good book and start reading.
You can even light a few candles inside the bathroom and turn off the light to create a warm and relaxed environment.
5.) Write Out Your Thoughts on a Sheet of Paper
It may sound like a traditional technique, but writing down all of your thoughts on paper is a great natural stress relief option. It is not the same as typing things down on a laptop.
When you are writing out your thoughts and feelings, you will likely experience a sense of calmness as soon as the pencil touches the paper.
Once you start writing, do not stop until you start feeling better. You can keep a journal where you will write about your day and different things that are going on.
Consider dating the pages so you can always look back on your journal to see how much progress you have made at eliminating the stress in your life.
6.) Go For a Walk Alone or With Good Company
Taking a walk is a great way to clear your mind, especially if the weather permits. Some people prefer to walk alone because it gives them a chance to really think about the problems they are dealing with and the different things they have to take care of each day.
There is nothing wrong with taking a long walk alone.
In fact, you might feel better after walking over to a secluded area and watching the sunset or just observing nature.
Although walking alone is a great way to reduce stress, you can always choose to go for a walk with good company, whether it is your significant other, best friend or sibling.
It will feel good to talk to someone else about what is going on and possibly even discuss different plans you can make in the future to eliminate even more of the stress.
7.) Make Your Own Natural Stress Relief Smoothie With Fresh Produce
If you are stressing out and in a rush, you can make yourself a tasty smoothie containing only the freshest produce. Consider adding one green apple, a handful of spinach leaves and one banana in a blender together with three ice cubes and two tablespoon of orange juice.
These fruits and vegetables provide protein and vitamins that will give you an energy boost. The added energy could help you get through those long days without feeling so anxious, worried or really upset.
If you do not have a lot of time in the morning to prepare smoothies, make them the night before and store them in the fridge until you are ready to use them. When you already have the smoothies made, you can just grab your cup and leave in the morning while still enjoying a wholesome beverage.
Aside from providing plenty of energy, the smoothie will keep you full until your next meal too.
8.) Meditate in a Dark Room Without Noise
One of the best ways for you to relax is to seclude yourself for a few minutes in a dark room where you will not hear anything else. Simply sit on a bed, floor or couch and close your eyes.
Practice breathing calmly while trying not to think negatively. You do not have to think about any of the stressful things in your life for that moment.
9.) Watch a Funny Movie or Television Show
Do you have a favorite television show or movie that really makes you laugh each time you watch it? If you have the spare time in the evening, why not sit down and start watching one of those movies or shows?
Watching something enjoyable is great escape from your hectic life, even if it is only for an hour or two.
You may feel like you should not waste time watching something on television when you have work to do, but everyone deserves a break.
10.) Eat Healthier to Keep Yourself Naturally Energized
Have you been eating out at a lot of fast food restaurants lately? The food you are eating all day long could make your stress even worse.
For example, if you are eating burgers and fries each night for dinner from the local fast food restaurant, you may begin to gain weight and feel sluggish. As a result, you will become even more stressed.
If you start eating healthier, you can become more energized without having to drink coffee all day long or using those energy drinks that are not good for you. Make sure to consume plenty of produce, including fresh blueberries, apples, carrots and broccoli.
Consider drinking smoothies instead of having heavy breakfast foods from fast food restaurants. Instead of snacking on chips during the day, eat a few apple slices or a cup of yogurt with granola as an alternative.
11.) Focus on Getting Enough Sleep at Night as Often as Possible
If you always feel tired, you are probably not getting enough sleep. Even if you think you can deal with getting around 3-5 hours of sleep at night, you are not going to function nearly as well as you would if you were well-rested.
Make it a priority to get more sleep at night, even if it means removing something from your to-do list or waiting until the next day to do it.
You should try your hardest to get about eight hours of sleep. If you are having trouble settling down for the night because you have a lot on your mind, get yourself into a healthy routine.
You can finish some of your work for the day and then get into the tub for a comforting bath. After getting out of the tub, you can start to apply the body oils on your skin.
Once you have applied the body oils, you can get into bed and cover your body with the blankets while resting your head on a comfortable pillow. Try to avoid looking at your phone because then you will probably end up spending hours on it and ultimately lose sleep.
If you are still tossing and turning, read a few pages from a book before attempting to fall asleep again.
These natural stress relief tips can make a major difference in your life. You should not have to live your life feeling stressed out from the minute you get up in the morning to the exact minute you fall asleep.
After all, that is certainly no way to live your life.
